These Winza Bet football betting rules explain how football bets may be settled for pre-match and live events. They cover 90 minutes, added time, extra time, penalty shootouts, cancelled matches, postponed matches, odds changes and official result corrections. Before placing a bet, check the market name, the time period covered and any conditions shown in your bet slip. Where a specific market rule differs from this general page, the conditions displayed for that market apply.

Winza Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. For full terms that may apply to your account and bets, please read the Terms and Conditions.

Football betting rules at Winza Bet

Football betting settlement depends on the market you select. A Match Result bet, for example, may use the score after 90 minutes plus referee-added stoppage time, while a “To Qualify” market may include extra time and a penalty shootout. Do not assume that every football market follows the same settlement period.

Terms such as 90 minutes, full time, including extra time, to qualify and outright winner describe important differences in how a bet can be settled. Always review them before confirming your selection.

Standard settlement time: 90 minutes

Most football markets are settled on the result after 90 minutes of normal play, including referee-added stoppage time at the end of each half. This is commonly described as “90 minutes football betting” or “full time” for standard match markets.

Added time, also called stoppage time or injury time, is part of normal time. It is different from extra time. Extra time is played only in certain knockout matches when a winner is needed after the normal 90 minutes.

Unless the market clearly states otherwise, extra time and penalty shootouts are not included in standard football bet settlement for:

  • Match Result / 1X2;
  • Double Chance;
  • Total Goals, including Over/Under markets;
  • Handicap markets;
  • Both Teams to Score;
  • many goalscorer, corners, cards and player markets.

For example, if a 1X2 market is labelled for 90 minutes and the score is level after stoppage time, the draw is the settled outcome, even if one team later wins in extra time.

When extra time counts

Extra time football betting applies only where the market name or its specific rules clearly include it. Look for wording such as “including extra time”, “to qualify”, “winner of tie”, “team to lift the trophy” or “outright winner”.

A “To Qualify” selection may be settled using the final outcome of a knockout tie, including extra time and a penalty shootout where the market rules state this. This is not the same as a standard Match Result or 1X2 bet.

Similarly, a tournament outright market may be based on the team that officially wins the competition, rather than its result in one individual match. Check the market description carefully, especially where a competition has two-leg ties or different qualification rules.

How penalties are settled

A penalty awarded during normal time or extra time is a match event. If it is scored, it may count as a goal where the selected market includes that period of play. A penalty shootout after the match is different.

Goals scored in a penalty shootout usually do not count as match goals for 90-minute totals, Match Result, Both Teams to Score or standard handicap markets. A shootout result may count for markets such as “To Qualify”, “winner of tie” or “team to lift the trophy” when the market rules include shootouts.

  • Penalty during the match: an in-play penalty awarded by the referee.
  • Penalty shootout: a tie-break procedure after extra time or normal time, depending on the competition format.

For penalty shootout betting rules, rely on the wording shown for the individual market rather than the general scoreline shown on a results page.

Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches

A cancelled football match bet, a postponed football match betting market or an abandoned match may be handled differently depending on the market and the applicable Winza Bet rules. The event status, whether play started, whether the match is completed within the applicable settlement period, and whether the outcome was already determined can all matter.

  • Cancelled before kick-off: bets may be made void if the event does not take place, subject to the relevant market rules.
  • Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain valid if the match is played within the period specified in the applicable rules, or may be void if it is not.
  • Abandoned after kick-off: markets whose result was already unambiguously determined before the interruption may be settled. Other bets may be void, subject to the market rules.
  • Match resumed or replayed later: settlement depends on whether the original event is officially continued, replayed or otherwise declared, and on the applicable settlement conditions.
  • Incorrect event details: a market may be cancelled or corrected where the listed teams, date, competition or market information contains a material error.

A void bet means the stake is returned and no winnings are paid for that selection. A void outcome is not the same as a lost bet or a cancelled bet that was never accepted. Check the relevant football betting settlement rules and your bet slip for the status of an individual wager.

Live football betting settlement

Live football betting rules reflect the fast-changing nature of a match. Odds can change rapidly after a goal, red card, penalty award, VAR review, dangerous attack or other significant event. Markets may be suspended while event information is checked.

When using Winza Bet live, a submitted bet may be accepted at the displayed odds, offered at updated odds, delayed for review or rejected. A submission is not an accepted bet until the system confirms it. If a major event occurred immediately before or while your bet was submitted, the market may be suspended or the request may not be accepted.

Live markets are settled using confirmed event information and the rules of the selected market. A temporarily displayed score or incident does not by itself determine settlement.

Odds changes and bet confirmation

A football odds change can happen at any time before your bet is accepted. Pre-match odds may change because of team news, market activity or other available information. In live football, changes are often more frequent.

The final odds for your bet are the odds confirmed in your accepted bet slip. If the price changes before acceptance, the system may show a new price for you to review or reject the request. Please check the selection, stake, odds and possible return shown in the bet slip before confirming, particularly when betting live.

VAR, official data and result corrections

Video Assistant Referee decisions can affect goals, penalties, red cards and other match events. During a VAR review, relevant markets may be suspended until information is confirmed. A goal initially shown on a live score display may be disallowed, while an incident may be changed after review.

Winza Bet uses official event data and applicable market rules when settling bets. If an official result, match report or statistic is corrected after initial settlement, action may be taken in line with the Terms and Conditions. This may include adjustments where permitted by those rules.

Player, cards and corners markets

Player, cards and corners markets can have additional conditions. Check the specific market rules before placing a bet.

  • Player markets: settlement may depend on whether the player takes part in the match and on the exact market selected.
  • Goalscorer markets: own goals are generally not treated as a goal scored by the player who put the ball into their own net unless the market rules state otherwise.
  • Cards: the treatment of cards issued to players, substitutes, coaches or other team staff depends on the market rules and official match data.
  • Corners: only officially awarded and taken corners may count. A corner that is awarded and then overturned or not taken may not be included.

These markets may use different time periods from standard 90-minute markets. Confirm whether extra time is included before you place the bet.

Examples of football bet settlement

Scenario Settlement
A match is 1–1 after 90 minutes and stoppage time. Team A wins in extra time. You selected Team A in a 90-minute 1X2 market. The bet loses because the match result for that market was a draw after normal time.
A match is 0–0 after normal time and Team B wins a penalty shootout. You selected Over 0.5 goals in a 90-minute totals market. The bet loses because shootout kicks do not usually count as match goals for a 90-minute totals market.
A match is cancelled before kick-off. The bet may be void and the stake returned, subject to the applicable market rules.
A live bet is submitted while a goal is under VAR review. The request may be delayed, accepted at updated odds or rejected while the market is suspended.
You select Team A “To Qualify” in a knockout tie. Extra time and a penalty shootout may count if the market rules state that qualification is based on the final tie outcome.

Responsible football betting

Football betting should be entertainment, not a way to earn income or solve financial problems. Set a budget you can afford, avoid chasing losses and take a break if betting stops being enjoyable. Winza Bet may offer tools such as limits, time-outs, self-exclusion and support options; see Responsible Gaming for available information.
